Get Ready for Ultra Music Festival 2016

ultraLogoPart of the appeal of staying at a South Beach hotel is the area’s penchant for its high energy. When night falls, the atmosphere on streets like Ocean Drive can quickly skyrocket from relaxed to celebratory with all of the various places playing fantastic music by the beach. With music being so popular in Miami, many notable names and festivals frequently host their events in South Florida, and one of the most popular is the Ultra Music Festival.

The annual Ultra Music Festival takes place outdoors and is typically held in Miami’s Bayfront Park.  Founded in 1999 and earning its name from the band Depeche Mode’s third album of the same name, the three-day festival has become one of the most important in South Florida and continually draws some of the biggest and most respected names in electronic music. Danish trance producer Arman van Buuren has been named the top DJ in the world more than four times by DJ Magazine and is one of the scheduled acts expected to perform alongside other notable names. These names include French DJ David Guetta, English music group The Prodigy, up and coming Norwegian DJ Kygo, and Dutch DJ Tiësto, among numerous others.

Ultra Music Festival kicks off on March 18th and continues until the 20th. Miami Sailing Week Begins Next Week

miamiSailingWeekWhen staying at a Miami Beach hotel near the ocean, it’s common to see various boating vessels traveling across the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. In fact, South Florida as a whole is essentially one giant boater’s paradise. From the boat shows in Miami-Dade and Broward County to the numerous marinas, seafarers have much to love.

This year’s Miami International Boat Show is over, but there’s another boating-related event happening in just a couple of days. BACARDI Miami Sailing Week begins on March 6th through the 12th. Among the various events is the regatta featuring over 200 sailors from more than 20 different countries participating in a competition to win the much coveted Bacardi Cup and the regatta trophy.  Sailors will be competing in three different classes called J/70, Viper 640 and VX Ones.

The Bacardi Cup originally began in Cuba but was moved over to Miami’s Coconut Grove due to Cuba’s political unrest during the early 1960s. Since then, the Coral Reef Yacht Club has been in charge of the event which continues to gain in popularity and will be heading into its 89th year. In fact, the Bacardi Cup is the only sport of Cuban origin that’s still played in the United States to this day.

Besides the sailing competition there will also be an art exhibition happening on Saturday, March 5th at CocoWalk.  For a complete list of scheduled events, visit the BACARDI Miami Sailing Week at http://www.miamisailingweek.com/.

Coconut Grove is less than thirty minutes away from our South Beach hotel and it is one of the best ways to complement your Miami Sailing Week experience. We have 79 inviting suites plus a collection of amenities to make your stay exceptionally memorable. Call 1.877.688.4232 to book your stay today.
