Stone Crab, Lobster and More at the South Beach Seafood Festival

SouthBeachSeafoodFestival_Logo_OptionsE_FinalWhen it comes to fine seafood, most people immediately think of Joe’s Stone Crab.  Since 1913, this Miami Beach mainstay continues to be one of the top restaurants for enjoying an array of delicious meals beyond just stone crab, which is frequented by notable politicians, movie stars, and athletes.  If you’re a fan of the restaurant or simply happen to love seafood, you’ll definitely want to make some room on your calendar on October 23rd for the third annual South Beach Seafood Festival.

The festivities begin Friday night with the second annual Chef Showdown where twelve local chefs will duke it out in six different “battles” including the Steakhouse versus Smith & Wollensky, CIBO versus City Hall, and Oceanaire versus Drunken Dragon.  Each of these battles revolves around a particular type of seafood, such as octopus and tuna.  With the audience itself serving as the judge and Joe’s Stone Crab chef Andre Bievenu facing off against Chef Ralph Pagano of Naked Taco (also the event emcee), it’s going to be an exhilarating night of laughs, great drinks, and most importantly some absolutely fantastic seafood.  The Chef Showdown kicks off at 7 pm and continues until 11 pm at Ninth Street and Ocean Drive.

On Saturday, the Festival will feature over forty distinct menus from the finest chefs in the Magic City, presenting mouth-watering dishes like lobster waffle, steak and lobster skewers, shrimp tacos, crab cakes, and of course stone crab.  All of these foods will be accompanied by great live music, mixology and culinary demonstrations, and much more.  Part of the proceeds will be going towards the Community Initiatives Foundation, supporting the EAT SMART Campaign, which aims to fight childhood hunger and obesity in Miami-Dade County.

Tickets for Saturday’s South Beach Seafood Festival range between $25 to $150, with Chef Showdown tickets costing $150.  For more information visit sobeseafoodfest.com.
