If you’re looking to head out to the beach this weekend to stay active, you might want to consider participating in the third annual Burger King Beach Run, which kicks off early at 7:30 am this Saturday, October 10th in Lummus Park. A fusion of sun, sand, and a hearty run, the event provides a fun and healthy activity aimed at benefiting students through the Burger King Scholars Program, part of the Burger King McLamore Foundation.
This year’s Burger King Beach Run will not only include the 5K run, but it will also include an additional 10K course for the first time designed for avid runners seeking something longer and with a greater challenge. Although it is a 5K course, the event is open to people of all ages and will offer drinks, post-race bites, live music, the inimitable Miami Beach ambiance, and a fun zone for younger runners. The event culminates with a high energy post-race party by the sunny beach that is included in the price of registration!
If you’re interested in participating, there are still a few days left to register. Ticket costs are $40 for adults who wish to participate in the 10K, and $30 for the 5K course. Fees for participants age 18 and under are $25 and $15 for the 10K and 5K course, respectively. There is also a “Kiddie Dash” that costs $5. Even if you can’t make it to the event, you can still contribute by making a donation.
The Z Ocean Hotel South Beach is located right in the middle of the course and provides a fantastic spot to enjoy a re-energizing meal at the Front Porch Cafe or a nice drink by the breezeway while cooling off from the day’s events. Invite your friends and family and enjoy some appetizers after you’ve partied on the beach!
