Headed to SOBEWFF on Miami Beach in 2019? Congratulations, you have chosen a world class foodie event to experience. Every year, the stakes ( or should we say, steaks?) get higher and the festival becomes more renown in the culinary world, attracting more exciting talent and innovative new flavors and wines. 2019 promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Here is the lineup for the upcoming food and wine festival on Miami Beach:
Highlights and What to Expect
The 5 day festival rounds up some of the world’s top chefs from Feb 20-24 for over 100 collaborative dinners, wine tastings and beach parties as well as cooking demonstrations. Don’t miss the annual Heineken Light’s Burger Bash event which is a flavorful party on the sand, but primarily, it’s a burger showdown where a panel of judges decide who receives the year’s Schweid & Sons The Very Best Burger Award. Guests van vote for the People’s Choice Award while snacking on offerings and sipping Heineken Light and Beer and Wine.
Goya Foods Grand Tasting Village and the Mastercard Grand Tasting Tents will feature samples, cooking demonstrations, wine and cocktail tastings and more from over 50 different restaurants and culinary establishments. Expect live music from Nu Deco Ensemble, the David Grutman Experience and host Ludacris in a 360 experience with interactive activations, high energy beats from top DJ’s, including a set by Cedric Gervais. Here are our advice and pro tips for doing the festival right:
Traffic is usually a bit of an issue on Miami Beach, but during this festival, it will be, dare we say, impossible. If you don’t plan accordingly, you will be stuck for over an hour without moving if you wait until the festival has begun to start going there, depending on where you’re coming from. Also, due to high demand, prices for Ubers and Lyfts go up during this time. We highly recommend staying ON Miami Beach at a hotel on Miami Beach near SOBEWFF within walking distance. Also, it will be extra convenient and safe if you are partaking in libations and cocktails to be able to do a short walk back to your hotel. At Z Ocean Hotel, our all suite hotel offers nearby lodging with rooftop penthouse suites that overlook the ocean or the city as well as in-room hot tubs for a relaxing soak after a long day of walking around and sightseeing.
This time of year in Miami, the temperatures are usually between high 70’s and low 80’s Farenheit; so it’s warm, breezy, comfortable and sunny. A sundress or loose pants, sandals and sunnies are perfect for the ladies; for the guys, shorts and a light button down or tee will work great. While most of the festival has makeshift walkways, you will still be treading on Miami Beach’s white sands, so wear shoes that are comfortable to do this in. Hats are recommended to block out the sun, as is sunscreen to protect your skin from UV Rays.
