The Art Basel 2015 festivities are officially over, but there is never a shortage of events going on for art lovers and admirers. If you were unable to make it to Art Basel last week, there are more events beginning next month, starting with Art Deco weekend.
The Art Deco Weekend dates back to more than forty years, making it one of the oldest annual events held in Miami Beach. Taking place in Ocean Drive, the 3-day event is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2016. Presented by the Miami Design Preservation League, the festival aims to reinforce the importance of preserving historic architecture in the Art Deco District through a fusion of more than eighty educational events, live music, guided tours, a street fair, fashion shows, and more.
Details on the specific times when the various events will take place have yet to be revealed but among the activities, attendees will be able to experience a colorful assortment of activities including a fantasy theater and guided tours. On the 17th, the South Florida Lindy Collective will transform Miami Beach’s Art Deco District back to the days when swing dance dominated the dance floors. Guests are encouraged to wear vintage clothing during Deco Dance and there will also be a vintage car and fashion show to complement the classic experience.
Located at the heart of the Art Deco District is the Z Ocean Hotel South Beach, a luxurious boutique hotel that is among the most popular places to stay for these festivities.
